WWM Episode 2: Desire

Description

Middle Ordovician Period, Dunleith Formation (namesake only) of Iowa/Wisconsin/Illinois

I wrote Dunleith Formation but in reality it's just a bunch of Mid-Ordovician formation mushed into one. The Ordovician isn't that famous for having a formation with solid faunal assemblies(outside of the Fezouata, but y'all know that's just low-key Burgess), y'know.
This episode's about good ol' predator Pentecopterus eating stuff.

Apianurus sp.: WOAH SPIKES! Yes gentlemen, a whole lot of trilobites were covered in spikes. The Odontopleurids in particular though. Yes, that's the same group that contains the infamous Dicranurus. Anyway since I couldn't use Dicranurus, I used this dude instead.

Opipeuterella emanualensis: This dude's from Nevada but I don't care. A swimming trilobite, this dude doesn't get much screentime, but they're colourful and all. It swims upside down by the way.

Isotelus rex: One BIG trilobite, it's only known for its size. Camouflages under thin layers of sand if it needs to.

Pentecopterus decorahensis: The earliest eurypterid as well as one of the biggest, this one kills 'em all! BAM! BAM! Blood everywhere! Nah just kidding this guy's still pretty killer tho. Being the main species of the episode, it wanders around finding prey items.

Astraspis splendens: Woah fish! Yes ladies and gentlemen, it's a FISCH! OoOOooOoOooo! A Pteraspidimorph to be exact. Armor on its head, gets killed a lot, swims like that dork who got beat up at school, yup - typical early fish! Astraspises are pretty much destined to be pentecopterus prey.

Chasmataspis laurencii: This looks like an eurypterid, but it's not - it's actually a Chasmataspid. Chasmataspids are like cheap knockoff eurypterids that somehow managed to survive even into the Devonian. They don't have class, they don't have style, and they certainly ain't got dignity. Just kidding they're cute and pretty plz dont sue me aaaaaa also based on deinowilly.deviantart.com/art/…

Gonioceras anceps: A stationary ambushing Nautiloid? What on earth is thiiiiiisssss???? Surprises our main character occasionally and steals her food. Bad gonioceras! Bad!

Cameroceras trentonese: Big Nautiloid is big. At about six metres it is really big. Honestly it's a bit overrated but y'know, still big. Appears only once in the episode and shows how big animals grew to become in this era.

Aphetoceras americanum: Coily coil coils coil coiling coil coil coil oops got eaten by our main gal!

Cothurnocystis sp.: A very very weird echinoderm. Looks like a boot with branches growing on it.

That's about it folks goodbye next episode is the obligatory silurian eurypterid episode
